The tower dominates the city silhouette of Zierikzee. Construction of the tower began in 1454, it was built free-standing next to the associated Gothic church, which unfortunately burned down in 1832. The tower should have been about 130 meters high, but construction was stopped after the city had experienced setbacks. From the tower you have a beautiful view of Zierikzee and the surrounding area.
